Monstera Deliciosa, also known as the Swiss Cheese plant, describes the incision of the leaves developed through the plant maturity process akin to the holes of some Swiss cheese. The leaves are broad, dark green and leathery. The botanical name ‘Deliciosa’ means ‘delicious’ and refers to its edible fruits in some species.
‘Monstera’ means ‘monstrous’, inferring the enormous growth of the plant up to 20 m height in nature. As an indoor plant, Monstera Deliciosa is restricted to grow only 2 to 3 m tall. It likes indirect sunlight in a bright location and damp soil with good water drainage. Monstera Borsigiana is a synonym or a variation to Monstera Deliciosa.
