Rosa ‘William Shakespeare 2000’ is also called ‘WS 2000’ in which the year of introduction was in 2000. WS2000 rose is dark purplish-pink during warmer weather and changes into crimson (bluish-red/wine red) under cooler weather. This English old rose hybrid can produce a petal count of 120, forming a neat, upright shrub.
William Shakespeare 2000 roses have a strong and warm Old Rose fragrance and had ever won accolades for their scent. A large bed of WS2000 roses was planted at the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon in memory of him. He is known to be England’s greatest playwright and also voted as ‘British Man of the Millennium’ by BBC Radio.
