Alocasia Xanthosoma Variegata plant comes from the ‘elephant ear’ family Araceae, popularly distinguished for its broad leaves perpendicular to the petioles. Its distinctive nickname ‘Mickey Mouse’ described the shape of the blade akin to that of the Disney character. The variegated leaves of Xanthosoma Albo Marginata are idiosyncratic with larges splashes of white and ivory on different shades of green on the Xanthosoma foliage.
The tropical arrow-leaf plant can grow between 1 – 1.5 m tall. Partial shade with bright light is preferred for the variegated Alocasia Xanthosoma and avoid direct sunlight so as not to fade the beautiful variegation. Keep the soil moist but do not let it sit in water to prevent root rot. Other common names are Xanthosoma ‘Albo Marginata’ syn. Xanthosoma ‘Albo Variegata’, Xanthosoma Sagittifolium ‘Variegatum Monstrosum’.
