Citrullus Lanatus

Watermelon or Citrullus Lanatus originated in West Africa but can also grow in the wild. Watermelon plants grow in a tropical climate like Singapore with a temperature higher than 25°C to thrive. Watermelon tree has a longer growing period than other melons and often take 85 days or more from the time of transplanting for the fruit to mature. It has long, weak, trailing or climbing stems that can grow up to 3 m long. The juicy and delicious watermelon fruit has 91% water, contains 6% sugars and is low in fat. Only vitamin C is present in appreciable content at 10% of the Daily Value.
